I went down to the student protest last night, where things definitely got a little out of hand. Here’s the full report from OpenFile,

“I think things got a little crazy,” thepandasays, shrugging.

His plush, black and white head is by his feet. What remains is the tired-looking face of a skinny philosophy professor, his body still in the massive bear suit. He’s lost his shoe, and waits patiently for a police officer to come see him.

It’s hours earlier – just after 11 p.m. – and I’m walking alongside the panda as he marches merrily through Places-des-Arts, at the head of a thousand-strong crowd. From beneath his massive black-and-white suit his muffled voice tells me he’ll do an interview later; “It’s hard to walk in this thing, let alone talk while I’m doing it.” Protesters run up to him, laughing, high-fiving and hugging him.
